Patna, Aug 13 (NationPress) The INDIA Bloc's leaders, spearheaded by Congress's Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, are set to kick off the Vote Adhikar Yatra on August 17 in Sasaram, located in the Rohtas district of Bihar.
The Congress party has unveiled the itinerary for the Yatra, with extensive preparations underway in the city.
KC Venugopal, Congress National General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP, emphasized that this campaign is part of the struggle to “safeguard democracy” and will actively engage with the public.
“From August 17th, Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA Bloc will embark on an extensive Vote Adhikar Yatra throughout Bihar — opposing the concerning SIR initiative, and transforming the fight against Vote Chori into a collective movement,” Venugopal shared on X.
He continued, “In this regard, I met with the leaders of the INDIA Bloc in Sasaram today to evaluate our preparations and ensure seamless coordination for the Yatra.”
The initiative seeks to enlighten the public regarding alleged discrepancies in the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of the voter registry.
The Yatra will traverse 23 districts of Bihar, with participation from leaders such as LoP Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, along with representatives from all six parties in the alliance.
Organizers have stated that the march will persist even if certain leaders have other commitments.
The aim of the campaign is to inform the populace about the perceived manipulation of the voter list by the Election Commission.
The decision to initiate the Yatra was confirmed during a meeting on August 7 at Rahul Gandhi’s residence in Delhi, where Tejashwi Yadav extended an invitation to all partners to partake in this state-wide effort.
The Yatra will commence from Rohtas on August 17, proceeding to Aurangabad on August 18, then to Gayaji and Nawada on August 19, followed by a break on August 20.
The INDIA Bloc Yatra will then resume its journey from Lakhisarai-Sheikhpura on August 21, moving to Munger and Bhagalpur on August 22, then Katihar on August 23, and concluding at Purnea and Araria on August 24.
A break is scheduled for August 25, with the Yatra resuming on August 26 from Supaul. The leaders will reach Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur on August 27, followed by Sitamarhi and Motihari on August 28, Betiah, Gopalganj, and Siwan on August 29, and Chhapra and Ara on August 30.
August 31 will be a rest day, and the campaign will culminate with a significant rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 1.
