Hyderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) The government of Telangana has officially entered into a partnership with Australia’s Deakin University to create a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence. This initiative marks a pioneering step as it is the first skill development center in India focused on enhancing advanced AI capabilities.
In a press conference held at the Secretariat, IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu provided insights about the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) alongside Australia’s Minister for International Education, Julian Hill.
He revealed that this Centre of Excellence will be located within the forthcoming AI University at Bharat Future City.
The Deakin Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute will collaborate with the Telangana government to oversee this Centre of Excellence.
The Minister emphasized that the aim of this partnership is not just to produce graduates but to cultivate a workforce of globally competitive and highly skilled professionals. He noted that this collaboration with the Australian government embodies this vision.
Sridhar Babu added that this agreement is part of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s continuous endeavors to attract leading international universities to Telangana.
The newly established Centre of Excellence will facilitate research and skill development in critical areas such as governance, healthcare, education, IT, life sciences, agriculture, critical minerals, and rare earth metals. The Minister highlighted that Telangana is on the verge of becoming a gateway for the future of Digital India.
“We are also making arrangements for skill development across major educational institutions in the state. My recent trip to Australia included an invitation for Deakin University to set up a campus in Telangana. Our state offers an innovation-friendly environment, and this Centre of Excellence will enhance it. Furthermore, Australia has agreed to provide high-end skill training for working professionals from Telangana in their country,” he added.
Government IT Advisor I. Saikrishna, along with representatives from Australia, including Cam Green, Karen Sandercock, Nathaniel Webb, Steven Biddle, Hilary McGeachy, Steven Connelly, Vikram Singh, and IT Department Chief Strategist Srikanth Lanka, participated in the MoU signing ceremony.
