Telangana Chief Minister Unveils Mobile Application for Indiramma Housing Initiative

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, officially launched a distinctive mobile application on Thursday aimed at selecting beneficiaries for the Indiramma housing initiative implemented by the state government.

Starting Friday, officials will commence visiting villages to verify applications and identify the beneficiaries.

In the initial phase of the initiative, the government plans to assist the underprivileged in constructing 4.5 lakh houses. Eligible beneficiaries who possess land will receive Rs 5 lakh for the construction of their homes.

In the following phase, the government will provide a housing site along with Rs 5 lakh to those without land. This initiative was inaugurated by the Chief Minister in Bhadrachalam, located in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district, on March 11.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy mentioned that 3,500 houses would be constructed in each Assembly constituency during the first phase.

The scheme prioritizes the most disadvantaged individuals, including Dalits, tribal populations, agricultural workers, the physically challenged, sanitation workers, single women, and transgender individuals.

The Chief Minister remarked that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi worked tirelessly to help the poor achieve their aspiration of owning a dignified home. He asserted that there is no village without Indiramma houses.

He further stated that over 25 lakh houses were constructed under the Indiramma scheme between 2004 and 2014.

CM Reddy noted, "The initiative began with Rs 4,000 per unit and rose to Rs 1.21 lakh during YSR's regime. Currently, under the people's government, the cost per unit has been elevated to Rs 5 lakh."

He pointed out that the app was launched as the Congress government approaches its first anniversary.

CM Reddy reiterated that the BRS had led the state into a financial predicament.

He claimed that upon taking power, the Congress government inherited Rs 7 lakh crore in debts incurred by the BRS.

He urged former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to reconsider his stance and contribute suggestions for the state's advancement.

The Chief Minister also extended an invitation to BRS chief Rao to join the first anniversary celebrations of the Congress administration.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka affirmed the government's commitment to fulfilling the dream of every impoverished family to have their own home.

He highlighted various welfare initiatives launched by the government over the past year, including a crop loan waiver amounting to Rs 21,000 crore, free bus travel for women, cooking gas cylinders priced at Rs 500, and free electricity for up to 200 units each month.

Revenue Minister P. Srinivasa Reddy criticized the previous BRS government, stating that during their decade-long rule, tenders were issued for 1.52 lakh double-bedroom houses, only 98,000 houses were constructed, and just 62,000 houses were completed, which were predominantly allocated to supporters of the ruling party at that time.
