The Chief Minister presented this request during a review meeting led by the Central minister focused on urban development, PMAY (Urban), and the power sector in Hyderabad on Friday.
Highlighting that Telangana constitutes 8 percent of India's urban population, CM Revanth Reddy urged the Union Minister to sanction 20 lakh houses to Telangana, which was the pioneering state to enroll in PMAY 2.0 and is equipped with extensive data and a detailed plan for construction.
CM Revanth Reddy drew attention to the inadequate Metro connectivity in Hyderabad compared to major cities such as Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore.
He also updated the Union Minister on the six corridors planned under Metro Phase-II. The Union Minister was informed that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for five corridors (76.4 km) have already been submitted to the Centre, which requires Rs 24,269 crore.
The Chief Minister requested Union Minister Khattar to approve the DPRs and allocate funds through the Joint Venture (JV) between the Central and State Governments.
Emphasizing the significance of the Musi River Rejuvenation Project, CM Revanth Reddy urged Manohar Lal Khattar to provide Central assistance for the construction of canals on a 55 km stretch (totaling 110 km), box drains, and STPs on both banks of the river to prevent sewage from entering Musi.
He requested an allocation of Rs 10,000 crores for the Musi project.
The Telangana CM also informed the Union Minister that a Comprehensive Sewerage Major Plan (CSMP) has been developed at a cost of Rs 17,212 crore for the establishment of a sewerage network in Hyderabad city and 27 neighboring urban areas.
The Centre was urged to consider the CSMP as part of AMRUT 2.0 or as a special project and allocate the necessary funds.
CM Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka urged the Union Minister to allocate 1 lakh solar pumps under PM Kusum to ensure reliable irrigation water supply for tribal farmers in Telangana.
