Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Telangana Police Department has made a significant appeal to all prominent underground CPI (Maoist) leaders and members, encouraging them to reintegrate into the mainstream and embrace a life filled with peace, security, and dignity alongside their families.
Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy emphasized this message, reiterating the earlier request from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, which urged the underground Maoists to abandon violence and reintegrate into society under the state's rehabilitation program.
According to the police chief, in the last two years alone, a total of 588 Maoist leaders and members at varying organizational tiers have successfully transitioned back to normal life, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Telangana Police and the execution of the government's surrender and rehabilitation policies.
“Every individual who has surrendered has benefited from the Surrender & Rehabilitation Policy of the Government of Telangana. Today, these individuals are living safely and contentedly in their home villages with their families,” he remarked, underlining the government's dedication to ensuring their long-term welfare and security.
The DGP noted that the success of this initiative has encouraged even those Maoists from neighboring regions and other states to approach the Telangana Police and reintegrate into society peacefully.
“This reflects the credibility, compassion, and effectiveness of the rehabilitation programs instituted by the Telangana Government. In this light, the Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana, presents a heartfelt and renewed invitation to all prominent underground Maoist leaders and members—including the remaining 15 members from Telangana—to step forward and embrace a peaceful future,” the statement read.
The police chief assured that those opting to return to mainstream society would receive immediate support and benefits under the Government’s Surrender & Rehabilitation Scheme, in line with the provisions set by the state government.
The Government is devoted to providing comprehensive assistance for their reintegration, allowing them to live freely, with respect and dignity alongside their families in their native areas. The Telangana Police firmly believes that evolving times necessitate peaceful and constructive solutions to longstanding issues, he stated.
“We call upon underground CPI (Maoist) leaders and members to recognize the changing circumstances, reunite with their families, and contribute positively to the advancement and progress of Telangana,” the DGP concluded, reaffirming the government's commitment to facilitating their return to ordinary life.
