Telangana Set to Distribute New Ration Cards Starting January 26

Hyderabad, January 12 (NationPress) The Telangana government is preparing to initiate the process of issuing new ration cards on January 26.
Ponnam Prabhakar, the State Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister, informed the press after a meeting with officials in Hyderabad on Sunday that the verification of eligible beneficiaries will take place in the field from January 16 to January 20.
The data of the verified beneficiaries will be recorded starting January 21, leading to the issuance of new ration cards from January 26.
Ponnam Prabhakar, who oversees Hyderabad, clarified that the Congress government has not introduced any new criteria for ration card issuance.
He emphasized that existing eligibility guidelines will remain in effect for the distribution of ration cards. He also reassured that families who have relocated to Hyderabad from other districts will be eligible for ration cards.
The minister stated that the government intends to rise above political considerations to ensure justice for the underprivileged. Ponnam Prabhakar confirmed that applications for new ration cards and Indiramma houses will be accepted.
He also mentioned that individuals owning land in Hyderabad will be prioritized under the Indiramma housing scheme to assist them in constructing homes.
The minister further stated that the Congress government would finalize the construction of double-bedroom houses initiated by the previous administration.
Discussions with contractors regarding this matter will be conducted.
Beneficiaries will receive the completed 2BHK houses through a lottery system.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made it clear that new ration cards will be issued in the state following previous eligibility guidelines, instructing District Collectors to ensure that no individual holds multiple ration cards.
The launch of new ration cards and the sanctioning of Indiramma houses will be part of four initiatives introduced by the government on January 26. That same day, the government will also initiate Rythu Bharosa, aimed at providing farmers with crop investment support of Rs 12,000 per acre, and Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa, which will offer annual financial assistance of Rs 12,000 to every landless laborer family.
On January 10, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the lists of beneficiaries for Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa and ration cards will be displayed at Gram Sabhas. His administration's vision is to provide housing for all families without homes.
Details regarding 18.32 lakh individuals identified via the Indiramma app have already been forwarded to the districts. The most disadvantaged will be prioritized for housing allocations. In the initial phase of this scheme, 3,500 houses have been approved for each assembly constituency.
