New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) The Delhi government is making significant preparations to honor the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur with a large-scale celebration, including the creation of a Tent City for devotees close to the Red Fort, as announced by an official on Tuesday.
Three lawns of the historic Red Fort have been earmarked for the principal events, where a grand Kirtan Darbar will take place, according to the statement from the official.
To cater to the devotees, comprehensive arrangements for ‘Langar Seva’ will be in place, and a Tent City will be erected at Ramlila Maidan to offer accommodation and necessary facilities for attendees, said Kapil Mishra, the Minister for Art, Culture, Language, and Tourism.
In a prior meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, Mishra and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the Environment Minister, assessed the preparations for the martyrdom anniversary celebrations scheduled for November 25.
Senior officials from various institutions, including the Punjabi Academy, the Department of Art, Culture and Language, the Tourism Department, and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, participated in the meeting.
The discussions focused on inter-departmental collaboration, logistical arrangements, and the program schedule. It was resolved that numerous cultural, spiritual, and public engagement events dedicated to the life, philosophy, and noble sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will unfold at different venues across Delhi.
Mishra remarked that the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur transcended a single religion or community, symbolizing a fight for all of humanity.
He highlighted that Delhi was a witness to the historic event when Guru Tegh Bahadur gave his life to uphold religious freedom.
Mishra stressed that the Delhi government aims to inspire every citizen through the ideals of Guru Tegh Bahadur, fostering values of tolerance, love, and service within society.
Sirsa added that the event would not just be a tribute but a global initiative to disseminate Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings. He noted that the Central Government is also offering support to enhance the impact and inspiration of this celebration.
In an effort to bring Guru Tegh Bahadur’s inspiring life and message closer to the public, a Temporary Museum will also be set up, showcasing rare paintings, historical documents, and exhibition materials.
Special bus services will be organized to ensure smooth transportation for devotees traveling from Delhi and surrounding areas to partake in the event near the Red Fort.
During the meeting, it was revealed that a special theme song, inspired by Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings, has been created by notable Punjabi singers and will be released shortly. This musical tribute aims to connect the younger generation with the message of Guru Ji.
A public outreach campaign will be launched across Delhi, featuring promotional materials in key public areas, transportation hubs, and digital platforms to encourage citizen engagement in this historic celebration.
