Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) The leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Raj Thackeray, articulated on Tuesday that while the present government champions a limited vision of development focused on flyovers, roads, and aid, a significant portion of India's populace remains untouched by this superficial advancement.
He emphasized that the absence of a towering figure like Babasaheb Ambedkar, whose profound social and economic insights and comprehensive vision are sorely missed, is a recurring sentiment.
On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Raj Thackeray observed that simply honoring great leaders such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Swatantryaveer Savarkar, and many others through statues is insufficient.
He voiced concern over the divisive tendencies that separate these great leaders by caste and creed, creating discord under the guise of religion and caste, and commemorating their birth and death anniversaries with loud DJ music and mere processions. He suggested, “Only when the state and its politicians transcend such trivial matters can we genuinely honor these remarkable individuals. Otherwise, these illustrious figures become nothing more than garlanded memories on their anniversaries, with their legacies and ideals trampled by today's petty, power-hungry politicians!”
He added, “As the rupee continues to weaken amid global and domestic challenges, we reflect on Babasaheb—not only as a social reformer but also as an esteemed economist who authored 'The Problem of the Rupee: Its Origin and Its Solution'. In this work, he elucidated how British policies led to the rupee's devaluation, profoundly affecting the lives of common Indians. The suggestions he put forth laid the groundwork for the creation of the Reserve Bank of India.”
The MNS chief highlighted that the freedom fighters sought not merely independence for the nation but envisioned that this freedom would uplift every individual at the grassroots level, ensuring economic development followed suit. In essence, Babasaheb possessed a remarkable understanding of both social issues and economic matters, marking him as a pioneering leader of his time.
“Today marks the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. On this significant occasion, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena extends its heartfelt tributes to his memory. As the architect of the Indian Constitution, Babasaheb's contributions to the nation are unparalleled, and future generations will remain eternally grateful for his legacy,” remarked Raj Thackeray.
