New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Tuesday labeled the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, as the "Leader of Propaganda or Leader of Opposing Bharat." This accusation emerged in response to Gandhi's recent statements claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “100 percent controlled” by US President Donald Trump.

Addressing media personnel outside Parliament, Thakur remarked, "They undermine the nation. Rahul Gandhi has now assumed the role of Leader of Propaganda or Leader of Opposing Bharat."

He further criticized the Congress party for its lack of seriousness regarding the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

Thakur noted, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a crucial statement in the Lok Sabha concerning the prevailing situation. Everyone anticipated that the Opposition leaders would demonstrate seriousness on such a significant issue, yet they were absent from the House."

He continued, "If they were genuinely concerned, they would have attended the statement. Merely tweeting and making statements from outside indicates that the Congress, which had power for 60 years, can only criticize. At a time when this region is facing multiple crises, we have witnessed the inconsistent statements made by Congress and their allegiances."

Thakur asserted, "During incidents like surgical strikes on Pakistan and Operation Sindoor, we saw the Congress's rhetoric. Not just Rahul Gandhi, but other Congress leaders also displayed a mindset that favors Pakistan's ideology over India's."

In addition, Thakur expressed his disappointment regarding the Himachal Pradesh Assembly's approval of a Bill to impose a cess on petrol and diesel.

He urged for its cancellation, stating, "I urge that this Rs 5 cess on petrol and diesel should be rolled back to alleviate the burden on the residents of Himachal."

Thakur accused the Congress party of implementing a 'khatakhat' model in the state.

He elaborated, "Prior to the state Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Himachal with an ostentatious 'khatakhat' model, which created chaos, worsening the situation in Himachal. The Congress has taken aim at the common people's finances in the state."

The BJP MP further stated, "When the Congress government assumed power, VAT was hiked by Rs.10.40 on diesel, and now they have introduced a Rs. 5 cess. The residents of Himachal are grappling with this increased VAT and tax burden."

Thakur also claimed that Himachal Pradesh is heavily indebted.

He said, "On one hand, the public faces tax burdens while on the other, the state is drowning in debt. A small state like Himachal Pradesh is over Rs 1 lakh 4 thousand crore in debt. The Congress government has accrued around Rs 46 thousand crore in debt over the past three years."

He concluded, "Now, residents in the state must shoulder even more due to the escalated VAT and cess on petrol and diesel. The Congress has failed to meet its promises."
