New Delhi, June 10 (NationPress) Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who spearheaded a nine-member Indian delegation comprising MPs from various political parties as part of Operation Sindoor outreach to five nations, including the United States and Brazil, stated on Tuesday that the expedition was a resounding success.
"I represented our nation and voiced its interests," remarked Tharoor during an interaction with Malayalam media in response to inquiries regarding his party's perspective on the initiative.
Besides Tharoor, the delegation included Sarfaraz Ahmad, Ganti Harish Madhur, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Tejasvi Surya, and former Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and visited Panama, Guyana, and Colombia.
"The primary aim of the trip was to engage with think tanks, Presidents, Vice Presidents, parliamentarians, and former high-ranking political figures to provide them with insights on recent events," Tharoor elaborated.
Regarding his visit to America, he noted that trade discussions or who had 'intervened' to halt aggression were not brought up during their talks, in reference to former President Donald Trump's remarks.
"After outlining India's stance, everyone comprehended the situation, as Pakistan had presented a feeble argument, considering terrorists had targeted tourists," he added.
When questioned about his plans post-visit, he stated: "I will compile a comprehensive report for the Prime Minister, and it will be my report."
"The trip was quite intense as we traveled at night and barely had time to rest," Tharoor noted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had chosen Tharoor to lead the delegation after it was revealed that Tharoor's name was not included in the Congress party's initial list.
Despite facing discontent from a majority within the Congress leadership since he decided to run against the official party nominee Malikarjuna Kharge for the presidency, Tharoor secured support from factions within the party in Kerala due to his popularity.
Tharoor has been a four-time Congress MP representing the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency since 2009.
