Three Arrested in Gurugram for Extorting Rs 50 Lakh from Businessman

Gurugram, Dec 29 (NationPress) The local police in Gurugram have taken into custody three individuals accused of demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from a businessman, according to police sources.
The suspects have been named as Ravi from Gurugram, Mohit Kumar, and Amit, who resides in Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities stated that they were alerted to the situation on December 25.
The victim reported to the police that during the night of December 16 and 17, he received a threatening call via WhatsApp, demanding Rs 50 lakh and warning him and his family of severe repercussions should he fail to comply.
Out of fear, the victim initially paid Rs 5 lakh.
Subsequently, the suspects contacted him again on December 18, demanding additional funds while further threatening his life.
Following the businessman’s complaint, a case was filed under the appropriate legal sections at the Rajendra Park police station in Gurugram.
During the investigation, Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar, who heads the Crime Branch of Farrukhnagar, Gurugram, successfully apprehended all three suspects on December 27.
Upon interrogation, it emerged that Ravi had prior acquaintance with the victim.
Ravi perceived the victim as affluent and, alongside his accomplices, devised a scheme to extort money from him.
The suspects are currently in a two-day police custody for further interrogation and to recover the extorted funds.
The investigation is ongoing.
