Gurugram, April 22 (NationPress) A team from the crime branch of the Gurugram police apprehended three individuals accused of extorting money from victims, authorities reported on Tuesday.

The suspects were named as Amit Bhati alias Bobby, Lalit, and Karan, all inhabitants of Bandhwari village, Gurugram.

The arrests took place near the Red Light T-Point on the Gurugram-Faridabad road on Monday.

According to law enforcement, on April 16, a man lodged a complaint at the Gwal Pahari police post, stating he had undertaken a contract to fill soil at the DLF Garden farmhouse.

"While working, three young men arrived in a car and demanded that he cease operations, inquiring about who was responsible for the work. When told it was an individual and his brother, they insisted that to continue, he must pay monthly dues. When the man inquired about the dues, they physically assaulted him and issued threats to his life," the complainant informed the police.

Following this complaint, a case was registered under the appropriate legal sections at the DLF Phase-1 police station in Gurugram.

Upon reviewing the criminal histories of the suspects, it was discovered that Amit Bhati has six recorded offenses in Gurugram for various crimes, including assault and violations of the Excise Act. Lalit has a case filed against him for attempted culpable homicide, while Karan has two cases registered for assault and violations of the Arms Act.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court for further interrogation and will be placed in police custody.

The investigation is ongoing.

In addition, a woman was detained for stealing jewelry from a residence in Joniyavas village in the Farrukhnagar area of Gurugram, police reported.

The woman was identified as Geeta, a resident of Baniyani village in Rohtak district. She was captured in the Farrukhnagar region of Gurugram on April 19.

During her interrogation, Geeta disclosed that she had been involved in two other theft incidents in Gurugram.

A review of her criminal record revealed seven theft-related cases against her in Rohtak and one in Gurugram. Authorities have seized Rs 2.1 lakh from her possession related to this case.
