Raipur, March 19 (NationPress) In a devastating road incident, three individuals, including a one-year-old girl, lost their lives in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh during the early hours of Wednesday when a container truck collided head-on with a car.

The collision took place on Temri road near Suarmal village within the jurisdiction of the Komakhan police station, resulting in six additional individuals sustaining injuries. They were transported to various hospitals in Bagbahara, Raipur, and Mahasamund.

Among the injured are two four-year-old children, both of whom are in critical condition and have been referred to a hospital in Raipur.

“The accident transpired around 1 a.m. on Wednesday when the large container truck collided with the car, which was traveling from Maharashtra towards Odisha,” stated Nitesh Singh Thakur, the in-charge of the Komakhan police station, in a phone interview with IANS.

The officer further reported that the one-year-old girl, Khushi, along with Johan Sahu (60), perished instantly, while Punam Sahu, the car's driver, succumbed to her injuries later at the Mahasamund district hospital.

Post-mortem examinations have been conducted, and the injured individuals are receiving intensive medical care. The truck driver fled the scene, prompting the filing of a first information report (FIR), with police actively searching for the driver.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the Eco car was left in pieces.

In a separate incident, a man was killed on the Dhamtari-Jagdalpur National Highway on Tuesday night. The motorcycle rider collided with a truck parked outside a dhaba near Purur. The crash was so intense that Jatin Netam (30) suffered significant head and chest injuries and later died from his wounds. This incident occurred in the Purur police station area.
