Bhubaneswar, May 16 (NationPress) A grand tricolour (Tiranga) rally took place in the city of Sambalpur, Odisha, on Friday, serving as a powerful testament of support for the Indian Armed Forces following their recent counter-terrorism operation against Pakistan.
This event, orchestrated by Citizens for National Security, saw enthusiastic participation from the public and notable political figures, including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabinarayan Naik.
The rally aimed to honour the courage and achievements of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces involved in Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the tragic April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.
During the operation, Indian forces successfully targeted and obliterated numerous terrorist camps deep within Pakistan and in Pakistan-occupied territories, marking a significant triumph in India’s counter-terrorism strategy.
The event began with a floral tribute to celebrated freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai at his statue. The rally then advanced from Jail Chhak to the Shaheed Stambha (Martyrs’ Pillar) at Kacheri Chhak, where participants paid their respects to fallen soldiers.
The tricolour march attracted a diverse array of citizens, including members of political parties, cultural organizations, and volunteers.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remarked at the event, “Today, the world has witnessed the zenith of India's military strength. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Operation Sindoor has transformed India’s global standing.”
He highlighted that, for the first time, multiple terrorist camps across Pakistan were entirely dismantled, and several air bases were destroyed during the operation, resulting in the elimination of over a hundred terrorists.
Pradhan urged citizens from all political backgrounds to unite in support of the Indian Army, emphasizing the need for every Indian to stand behind the forces.
He further clarified that Operation Sindoor is not concluded but currently on hold, hinting at the potential for future actions.
He called upon the public to organize more tricolour rallies to uplift the morale of the Indian Armed Forces and showcase national unity.
