Chennai, March 29 (NationPress) The leader of the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), G.K. Vasan, vehemently criticized the ruling DMK government on Saturday, asserting a total collapse of law and order in Tamil Nadu.
Vasan stated: “While the Dravidian Model government may claim advancements, the truth reveals a dire situation. The state experiences approximately eight criminal events daily — encompassing murders, rapes, burglaries, and chain-snatchings. No other region in India endures such a high crime rate.”
He accused the DMK of leveraging issues like language and delimitation to distract the public from its shortcomings, corruption, and scandals.
Vasan demanded transparency, urging for a white paper regarding the alleged Rs 1,000-crore financial fraud involving TASMAC — the state-owned entity with a monopoly on liquor sales.
He pointed out that numerous distilleries and bottling firms are implicated in generating unaccounted funds and executing illegal payments.
Previously, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed a series of raids over four days starting March 6, targeting TASMAC headquarters, distilleries, and liquor contractors throughout the state.
The operations were linked to suspected financial misconduct. Key locations searched included the TASMAC headquarters at the Thalamuthu Natarajan Building in Egmore, SNJ Distilleries on Greams Road, Akkadu Distillers in T. Nagar, the residence of an MGM liquor contractor on Radhakrishnan Salai, and Shiva Distillery in Narasimhanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore.
Vasan also called for the resignation of Electricity and Prohibition Minister V. Senthilbalaji, holding him and the DMK government accountable for the worsening circumstances.
He further condemned the state for failing to fulfill promises made to government employees, teachers, and transport workers.
Regarding the delimitation issue, Vasan clarified that the Centre has not officially communicated any updates to any state.
“Even if delimitation is initiated, it will only result in an increase in Lok Sabha seats. The process is regulated by specific guidelines and cannot be accomplished instantaneously,” he explained.
In conclusion, Vasan accused the DMK of being “self-serving” and utilizing diversionary strategies to mask its inadequacies.
