Srinagar, July 23 (NationPress) A total of twenty-five esteemed judges from across the nation, including Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice B.R. Gavai, along with six judges from the Supreme Court and five Chief Justices from various High Courts, are set to participate in a two-day North Zone Regional Conference in Srinagar on July 26 and 27.
This significant event is being organized by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in partnership with the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
This marks Justice B.R. Gavai’s inaugural visit to the union territory since assuming the role of CJI. The Union Law Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal, is also anticipated to be present at the conference.
Among the six Supreme Court judges attending are Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of NALSA; Justice Vikram Nath, Chairperson of SCLSC; Justice P.S. Narasimha; Justice Rajesh Bindal; Justice Pankaj Mithal; and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh.
Chief Justices scheduled to attend include Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya from the Delhi High Court; Justice Sheel Nagu from the Punjab & Haryana High Court; Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia from the Himachal Pradesh High Court; Justice Arun Bhansali from the UP High Court; and Justice Guhanathan Narendar from the Uttarakhand High Court.
Other notable senior judges expected at the conference include the Executive Chairpersons from SLSA Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, along with various Chairpersons from High Court Legal Service Committees across multiple regions.
The Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Justice Arun Palli, along with other judges from the High Court, will also be in attendance.
Officials have confirmed that all necessary security measures and arrangements are in place.
Highlights of the conference include an inaugural session at the SKICC and a major legal awareness camp designed for tribal communities at the Juvenile Home in Harwan, Srinagar, featuring stalls from twelve different government departments.
Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, has been appointed as the overall Nodal Officer to finalize arrangements in collaboration with relevant departments.
Coordination for the event will be overseen by the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, M.K. Sharma, who also serves as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice.
Additionally, various sub-committees have been established to ensure the smooth execution of the conference, covering aspects such as government liaison, financial management, judge coordination, reception, transportation, accommodation, venue arrangements, catering, cultural events, stationery, mementos, correspondence, IT/communication, and media.
