Paris, June 3 (NationPress) Patrick Pouyanne, the Chairman and CEO of the French energy titan TotalEnergies, expressed the company's strong commitment to bolster the growth of Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL). During a meeting with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Pouyanne emphasized their dedication to support Adani Green, which boasts an impressive 14 gigawatts of capacity, stating, "we will continue to support this growth."
Pouyanne also highlighted TotalEnergies' wider ambitions in India, which include enhancing energy exports from the United States.
On social media platform X, Goyal shared, "I met Patrick Pouyanne, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, to discuss the company's investment strategies in India and opportunities for deeper cooperation in the renewable energy domain."
The French energy giant has committed approximately $5 billion to investments in India, concentrating on natural gas infrastructure, city gas development, and projects in renewable energy, particularly in solar and wind sectors.
In January 2021, TotalEnergies entered into a partnership with Adani Green, acquiring a minority stake in the renewable energy enterprise.
Just last month, Adani Green Energy Limited achieved a significant milestone by becoming the world’s first renewable energy (RE) Independent Power Producer (IPP) to become water positive across its entire operational portfolio, which exceeds a staggering 14 GW capacity.
AGEL reached water positivity a year ahead of its FY26 objective, establishing a new benchmark for sustainability in the industry. It stands as the only company among the top 10 global firms (in terms of operational RE portfolio) to reach this significant achievement.
In FY25, Adani Green reported robust financial results, surpassing $1 billion in EBITDA, owing to a significant year-on-year growth of 30 percent in operational renewable energy capacity, which now totals 14.2 GW, maintaining its status as India’s largest.
The Adani Group company noted a greenfield addition of 3.3 GW in FY25, marking India’s highest ever addition by any RE firm, contributing to 16 percent of the nationwide utility-scale solar and 14 percent of wind installations last fiscal year.
AGEL is currently in the process of developing a colossal 30 GW renewable energy facility in Khavda, Gujarat, which spans an area of 538 sq km, nearly five times the size of Paris.
