Jaipur, June 14 (NationPress) In a heart-wrenching event, Ashish Bhagora (40), the son of former BJP MP Mahavir Bhagora, was discovered deceased under dubious circumstances on Saturday morning in Udaipur. Ashish had been managing a 24-hour public library located above Jai Ambe Dairy in the Ambamata police station vicinity of Udaipur.
As reported by the police, his body was uncovered by students arriving at the library around 7:15 a.m. After failing to get a response from Ashish despite their repeated calls, the students entered his room and found him unresponsive on the floor. A cloth (gamcha) was noted to be hanging from the ceiling fan, leading authorities to suspect a possible suicide. Subsequently, his body was transported to the mortuary at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital (MBGH) for a postmortem examination.
Ambamata Police Station In-Charge Mukesh Soni confirmed that Ashish resided in Ekalavya Colony, Mallatalai, and that initial investigations indicate suicide. Nevertheless, the precise cause of death will be determined following the postmortem report.
Ashish was well-regarded for his dedication to educational efforts and social work, particularly in tribal regions. He was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to education and his innovative contributions to community projects.
Upon receiving the distressing news, Udaipur BJP District President Gajpal Singh Rathore and senior party official Pramod Samar hurried to the scene. Rathore expressed his disbelief and grief, stating, “Ashish was an exceptionally gifted and socially devoted person. This is a profoundly tragic event. The police will explore all potential angles surrounding this heartbreaking loss.”
Ashish’s father, Mahavir Bhagora, a prominent BJP figure, passed away four years ago. He held multiple roles, including MLA, Minister of State, and subsequently MP from Salumbar. A former Deputy Director in the Social Welfare Department, he entered politics in 1991 and was elected as an MLA from Gogunda in 1993, serving in Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's cabinet.
As an MP, Bhagora was involved in the controversial cash-for-votes scandal in Parliament on July 22, 2008, during which Rs 10 crore was allegedly displayed in the House. He faced legal repercussions and imprisonment following this incident.
The police are currently investigating Ashish’s personal and mental health history to uncover potential motives for the suspected suicide. Ongoing inquiries are in progress.
