Tragic Road Accident Claims Seven Lives in Hathras; CM Yogi Shares Condolences

Hathras, Dec 10 (NationPress) A devastating road accident near Jaitpur village on the Bareilly-Mathura road in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district has led to the deaths of at least seven individuals on Tuesday.

The tragic incident involved a collision between a container truck and a passenger vehicle, known locally as a 'Magic'. Numerous others suffered injuries and were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities, as reported by officials.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow regarding the fatalities and conveyed his sympathies to the grieving families. He has instructed district officials to guarantee appropriate medical care for the injured and has also announced compensation for the families of the deceased.

According to police reports, “The accident transpired on the Mathura-Kasganj highway within the Kotwali Hathras Junction area. Eyewitnesses noted that the Magic vehicle was speeding from Hathras when it collided head-on with a tanker traveling from Sikandrarao. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to overturn.”

The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police quickly arrived at the location to manage the rescue and relief efforts. The District Magistrate has instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure the highest quality of care for those injured.

An eyewitness recounted, "I witnessed the accident unfold before my eyes. Approximately 7-8 individuals perished instantly, and many others were injured. The driver of the Magic was responsible due to speeding."

Reports indicate that 20 residents from Kumhrai village, in the area of the Chandpa police station, were en route to visit an elderly relative suffering from cancer in Nagla Imilia village, Etah, when the accident occurred.

The impact of the collision was so intense that the Magic overturned and fell into a ditch, creating a scene of chaos with people screaming at the site. Nearby villagers hurried to assist, rescuing injured passengers from the wreckage.

Tragically, six individuals died at the scene. The remaining injured were taken to the district hospital, where a woman later succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased have been sent for a post-mortem examination, while the injured continue to receive medical treatment.
