Kolkata, April 8 (NationPress) The meeting of the Internal Disciplinary Committee of the Trinamool Congress, originally set for Tuesday to address the absence of MLAs from Assembly sessions, has been delayed indefinitely due to ongoing internal conflicts within the party.

The state Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, who leads this committee, has communicated the postponement to all relevant parties.

A member of the disciplinary committee and the chief whip of the Trinamool Congress legislative party, Nirmal Ghosh, informed the media that the meeting is on hold for now.

“The next date and time will be announced shortly,” he stated.

According to sources, the delay in the meeting is attributed to internal disputes involving four Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha members - Kalyan Banerjee, Kirti Azad, Mahua Moitra, and Saugata Roy.

“The tensions between Kalyan Banerjee and Saugata Roy are particularly troubling. It is likely that their discord contributed to the indefinite postponement of the Disciplinary Committee meeting,” a senior cabinet member remarked.

This committee meeting was aimed at obtaining explanations from 30 MLAs, including a state minister, regarding their absence during the final day of the Budget session in the Assembly on March 20.

The Internal Disciplinary Committee had pinpointed 30 MLAs, including Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Department Manoj Tiwari, who were missing from the House proceedings on March 20.

Trinamool Congress had issued a whip mandating the presence of all MLAs during the last two days of the Budget session on March 19 and March 20. However, this whip did not extend to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
