Kolkata, July 18 (NationPress) Just a few hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s highly anticipated speech at a significant political gathering in the industrial town of Durgapur in West Burdwan district, the Trinamool Congress has thrown five pointed questions at him, primarily addressing the purported mistreatment of Bengali-speaking individuals in states governed by the BJP.
The leadership of the Trinamool Congress mocked PM Modi for initiating his political visits to West Bengal, urging him to respond to five specific inquiries during his upcoming rally in Durgapur.
“The campaign has resumed, with Prime Minister @narendramodi set to hold a rally in Durgapur today. We hope he utilizes this chance to answer a few direct questions,” stated an announcement from the Trinamool Congress on Friday afternoon, which was shared on the party’s official X platform.
The first two questions inquire whether speaking Bangla is considered a crime, and if it is, does that render him a criminal as well, given that he has sung the National Anthem and National Song, both composed in Bangla.
“If not, why are Bengali-speaking citizens being arrested and expelled in BJP-controlled regions?” questioned the third point.
In their fourth inquiry, the Trinamool Congress requested PM Modi to clarify which provisions in the Indian Constitution permit alleged state-sponsored discrimination based on language.
“And does the BJP genuinely believe this approach will win the support of the people of Bengal?” was the fifth and final question.
Simultaneously, the Trinamool Congress responded to PM Modi’s earlier statement on X, where he asserted that the people of West Bengal were turning towards the BJP with hope for development due to the alleged mismanagement by the Trinamool Congress.
In their counter-response, the Trinamool Congress alleged that the BJP was transporting its supporters from neighboring states to fill the audience at Modi’s rally in Durgapur.
“We hope you’re bringing in crowds from nearby Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand again, as the image of the Prime Minister addressing rows of empty chairs is not favorable. Good luck filling the seats, if not hearts,” they remarked.
