Patna, July 5 (NationPress) Following the violent incident that occurred in Siwan's Malmaliya Chowk, the police in the district apprehended nine individuals on Saturday, connected to the murders of three young men.
The horrific event has raised tensions in the locality.
The SDPO of Maharajganj corroborated the arrests, stating that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently examining the matter, with further arrests anticipated shortly.
He stated, “All suspects have been identified. This incident stemmed from personal disputes.”
On Friday evening, at approximately 4:30 PM, armed assailants wielding swords, axes, and firearms on motorcycles and a Scorpio reportedly murdered Munna Singh in Malmaliya Chowk.
Subsequently, they attacked and killed Rohit Singh, the son of former Mukhiya Akhilesh Singh and Kanhaiya Singh, near Kaudiya Basanti village, across the Malmaliya-Masrak railway overbridge.
The injured individuals, identified as Roshan Singh and Karan Singh, are reported to be in critical condition and are receiving treatment at Siwan Sadar Hospital.
Following the triple murder, the region experienced heightened tension, leading to shop closures in protest. Furious locals set fire to one of the assailants' motorcycles and voiced their anger at the police for their delay in response.
Insider reports indicate that the incident is tied to a longstanding dispute. Just the day prior, Kanhaiya Singh had lodged a complaint for assault and robbery against seven individuals at the local police station.
The attackers reportedly deceived the victims into coming to Malmaliya Bazaar under the guise of a reconciliation meeting, only to assault them with swords, axes, and firearms.
The primary suspect is believed to be a liquor trader, with over two dozen people implicated in orchestrating the attack.
In light of the situation, DIG Saran Nilesh Kumar has suspended Bhagwanpur Haat SHO Sujit Kumar Chaudhary immediately for dereliction of duty.
This incident has underscored the ongoing law and order challenges in Bihar, especially with the Assembly elections approaching.
