Agartala, Dec 21 (NationPress) Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB), recognized among India's 28 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), is leading the charge in executing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship welfare schemes. This effort ensures the transparent, efficient, and dignified delivery of benefits to grassroots beneficiaries, as highlighted by a senior bank official on Sunday.
During the Golden Jubilee celebrations of TGB, Chairman Satyendra Singh emphasized that the bank is not just celebrating 50 years as a financial entity but is also commemorating five decades of collaboration with the people of Tripura and the state government to foster a more inclusive, resilient, and empowered economy.
Singh noted that through pivotal initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the bank has integrated thousands of previously unbanked households into the formal financial framework.
"With the implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), we guarantee a seamless and timely transfer of government benefits, bolstering public trust and eliminating leakages," he stated.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the bank's extensive contributions under welfare schemes such as the Kisan Credit Card, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and the Atal Pension Yojana have greatly enhanced social and financial security for farmers, workers, and other vulnerable groups.
Emphasizing the bank's role in executing the Tripura government's schemes, Singh mentioned that TGB has been actively promoting rural livelihoods, women's empowerment, and youth entrepreneurship throughout the state.
He acknowledged that TGB's close collaboration with district administrations and relevant departments has facilitated effective credit linkage, subsidy integration, and the advancement of financial literacy at the village level.
Highlighting the bank's digital evolution, Singh remarked that TGB has transformed from using manual ledgers to becoming a fully digital institution.
"By implementing Core Banking Solutions, enhancing IT infrastructure, establishing cyber-secure platforms, and utilizing digital delivery channels like UPI, RuPay cards, mobile, and internet banking, we have made sure that technology promotes inclusion rather than exclusion," he added.
Singh stated that the bank has successfully linked the grassroots economy to the broader financial ecosystem, allowing farmers, self-help groups, artisans, and micro-entrepreneurs to engage confidently in formal markets, digital payments, insurance, and pension systems.
These ongoing initiatives have garnered recognition at both national and state levels, with TGB receiving numerous awards for excellence in banking services.
