Agartala, Jan 29 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Wednesday that Tripura has emerged as one of the fastest-growing states in the northeastern region.

During the inauguration of the 15-day-long 35th Industries and Commerce Fair at the International Fair Ground in Hapania, located on the outskirts of the city, the Chief Minister stated that the BJP government is implementing a comprehensive plan for the overall development of the state.

“With the current trajectory of government initiatives, nobody can obstruct Tripura’s progress. The state’s average domestic product has witnessed a remarkable increase. Tripura now ranks second in per capita income among northeastern states, showcasing its rapid advancement,” remarked Saha.

He pointed out that the fair aims to exhibit the variety of products manufactured within the state and gauge consumer preferences.

“The quality of numerous products produced in Tripura has seen substantial improvements. Additionally, the confidence of industrialists has surged. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the importance of building this confidence, and the state government is actively working to attract external industrialists to set up operations in Tripura,” he noted.

Saha encouraged the residents of the state to adopt an industry-focused mindset, highlighting the growing entrepreneurial spirit among the populace, which was previously lacking.

“Now, there is a rising sentiment that ‘I can achieve this too’,” he stated.

The Chief Minister further stressed the importance of individuals aspiring to become job creators rather than merely job seekers.

He mentioned that the state government is offering various forms of support to empower young people and assist them in becoming self-sufficient.

“Close to 56,000 self-help groups have been established. The quality of their products has notably improved, as evidenced by the Saras Mela. Their products are now being marketed in other states, enhancing their confidence,” Saha added.

The fair features a total of 576 stalls, with 354 representing local businesses and 144 from other states across the country.

Moreover, stalls from Afghanistan, Turkey, and Dubai are also participating in the annual fair. This year, stalls from 17 states are showcased under the theme ‘Destination Tripura – Land of Opportunities.’

Notable attendees at the event included Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brisaketu Debbarma, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, Director Vishwasree B, Mayor Dipak Majumder, and other dignitaries.
