As per police accounts, a container transporting aqua feed from Bheemavaram to Mulapeta was negotiating a turn at Kathipudi Junction when it was struck by another container, which was loaded with cotton bundles and traveling from Kolkata to Chennai. The impact ignited a fire that consumed both vehicles.

The driver of the cotton-laden lorry, Kamal Sheikh (43), tragically lost his life in the blaze, while two others sustained injuries.

Emergency services, alerted by bystanders, quickly arrived to extinguish the flames.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, with Circle Inspector Surya Appa Rao noting that the deceased was originally from Kolkata.
