New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) Two individuals were apprehended for the theft of Rs 1.2 lakh in cash and various electronic devices from a vehicle whose driver had dozed off while parked in Vasant Vihar, as reported by a Delhi Police official on Monday.

The suspects, identified as Mohd Nadeem and Ravinder, were caught after breaking the windshield of the car to facilitate the robbery, stated Amit Goel, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the South West District.

The police arrested the duo following the incident that occurred on January 10 near Palam Marg.

A Honda Amaze was recovered, which the thieves used to flee the crime scene. Authorities also seized four bags containing cash totaling Rs 1.2 lakh, an iPad, and a pair of AirPods.

According to officials, around 11 p.m. on January 10, the complainant, F Hussain, had parked his vehicle on Palam Marg in Vasant Vihar. While his family went to a nearby restaurant for dinner, he remained in the car and fell asleep.

Shortly thereafter, the two suspects arrived in their vehicle and parked behind the complainant's car, as per police reports.

One of the suspects shattered the rear windshield of the complainant's vehicle, while the other restrained him and forced him inside his own car before fleeing with the stolen items, police noted.

Following the incident, the complainant contacted the Police Control Room (PCR).

A case was filed under section 309 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Vasant Vihar police station.

Utilizing the registration details of the suspect's vehicle and technical surveillance, police executed raids in a slum area of Inderlok and its surroundings, leading to the capture of both suspects.

Records show that Nadeem had prior involvement in nine criminal cases related to robbery and attempted murder, while Ravinder had been implicated in four criminal cases concerning theft, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act across various police stations in Delhi.
