Thiruvananthapuram, April 7 (NationPress) - Shashi Tharoor, a prominent figure in the Congress party, declared on Tuesday that the residents of Kerala are yearning for transformation and expressed optimism that the United Democratic Front (UDF) will establish a government in the state.

Following a successful 17-day election campaign that spanned 59 Assembly constituencies across 12 districts, Tharoor, who represents Thiruvanthapuram in Parliament, indicated that the current political landscape shows a notable preference for the UDF among the electorate.

“Kerala is experiencing a pro-UDF sentiment. There is a significant anti-incumbency feeling throughout the state, and it is evident that the populace desires change,” he remarked, highlighting feedback from various regions, from Parassala in the south to Mattannur in the north.

Tharoor attributed this shift to several factors, including widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration, credible UDF candidates, and the coalition's forward-thinking proposals, which have galvanized a substantial movement for change in Kerala.

During public assemblies, road shows, youth events, women's groups, and interactions within constituencies, Tharoor observed that citizens consistently called for a government focused on the people.

Major public requests encompassed a responsive governance model, job creation, economic revitalization, and rebuilding trust in public institutions.

He underscored that the most compelling voices in this campaign have emerged from the youth of Kerala.

Across educational institutions, urban areas, and rural settings, young individuals voiced their serious concerns regarding limited job prospects, escalating violence and substance abuse impacting campus life, and the increasing disconnect between education and employment, which have led to growing discontent among them.

Tharoor also pointed out that the UDF’s candidate roster has fostered public trust, featuring leaders who possess local connections, community acceptance, and clean records in public service.

This, he noted, has reinforced the emotional bond between the campaign and the voters.

Moreover, the UDF manifesto has resonated widely across Kerala, pledging commitments to job creation, youth empowerment, revitalization of campuses, advancement of women, welfare provisions, economic development, and transparent, accountable governance.

Covering key constituencies such as Neyyattinkara, Nemom, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Kochi, Thrikkakara, Angamaly, Idukki, Puthuppally, Kottayam, Kongad, Kaipamangalam, Malappuram, Nilambur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Peravoor, and Mattannur, Tharoor stated that the campaign has invigorated grassroots supporters, creating what he describes as a statewide UDF momentum.

Kerala is poised for a decisive mandate favoring the UDF, he concluded.
