Thiruvananthapuram, April 9 (NationPress) Renowned Congress figure A.K. Antony on Thursday initiated the campaign narrative for the United Democratic Front (UDF), forecasting a monumental victory in Kerala and emphasizing that a robust anti-incumbency sentiment would mark the end of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's decade-long tenure.

Antony noted that the desire for change has been clear from the onset of the campaign, intensifying notably in recent days.

“This outcome will surpass what we witnessed in 2001,” he asserted, suggesting that voters are primed to firmly reject what he termed an “anti-people regime.”

He highlighted a remarkable political shift, claiming that even groups traditionally opposed to the Congress party, including individuals from student movements, are now supporting the UDF.

According to him, even die-hard Left supporters acknowledge the necessity for a change in leadership to prevent a prolonged political decline akin to that observed in West Bengal.

Antony remarked that the BJP is unlikely to perform well, as Kerala is not a suitable environment for their politics.

Reinforcing these points, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal urged voters to consider “ten critical issues” before voting, labeling this election as the concluding chapter for the Vijayan government.

He accused the ruling LDF of overseeing misgovernance characterized by economic hardship, escalating prices, and contentious policies.

Venugopal further claimed attempts were made to cling to power through alliances with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other factions, a tactic he argued would fail in Kerala.

He outlined several concerns, alleging that the government facilitated backdoor employment, imposed greater financial burdens through elevated taxes and tariffs, and neglected safety and accountability in essential sectors such as healthcare and law enforcement.

Venugopal maintained that the electorate would decisively oppose another term for the Left Front.

In an emotional appeal, Congress MLA Chandy Oommen accused the government of targeting his father, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

He alleged that his father faced persecution from the current administration and cited the stagnation in his constituency as evidence of neglect.

Referring to a hospital wing named after his father, he stated it symbolized the treatment received by the former leader.

With senior leaders expressing confidence and intensifying their critiques, the UDF has framed this election as a pivotal moment for political transformation.
