Union Home Minister Amit Shah Arrives in Chandigarh Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

Chandigarh, Dec 2 (NationPress) On the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chandigarh for a review of the progress regarding three newly established criminal laws intended to transform the criminal justice framework, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive here on Monday evening.
Newly appointed Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from various parts of the nation will participate in the event focusing on enforcement, judicial processes, and evidence management pertaining to the new regulations, with the Chandigarh Police presenting a comprehensive overview of the integration and operation of different applications.
Chandigarh, serving as the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, is the inaugural city in the country to achieve 100 percent implementation of all three laws.
The local police will demonstrate the capabilities of applications such as e-Sakshya, Nyay Setu, Nyay Shruti, and e-summons, which have been created by the National Informatics Centre in partnership with the National Crime Records Bureau.
The Prime Minister is anticipated to remain in the city for three hours, while the Home Minister will spend the night at one of the Raj Bhawans on Monday.
Special preparations are also being made at Punjab Engineering College (PEC) for the Prime Minister’s visit.
PM Modi’s arrival follows closely after his visit to Panchkula, nearby, for the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on October 16. Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister convened a meeting with chief ministers of the National Democratic Alliance at IT Park in Chandigarh.
Home Minister Shah last visited the city on August 4 to evaluate the enforcement of the three new criminal laws. He also introduced four newly developed national applications and was given a demonstration of various components of the interoperable criminal justice system established under these laws.
In anticipation of PM Modi and Home Minister Shah's visit, Chandigarh has been declared a “no flying zone” until December 3.
“Movement of V.V.I.P. is scheduled to Chandigarh on 03.12.2024. Therefore, in light of emerging threats posed by recent instances of terrorist attacks utilizing drones equipped with improvised explosive devices by anti-national factions, and to ensure the safety of V.V.I.P.s and the general public, it is essential to designate the area of U.T., Chandigarh as a ‘no flying zone’ for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles,” states the order by the Deputy Commissioner.
This order will not apply to law enforcement agencies, including the police, paramilitary forces, the Indian Air Force, SPG personnel, and individuals authorized by competent government authorities.
“Any violation of this order will result in action under Section 223 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable legal provisions,” the order concluded.
