A senior official noted that to strengthen the execution of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Programs from the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, Thakur conducted a thorough review with senior officials from the Meghalaya government’s social welfare department.

The conversations concentrated on evaluating advancements in flagship schemes such as Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of enhancing service delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level, particularly in the operations of Anganwadi Centres, as highlighted by the official.

The review pinpointed critical areas such as the necessity for regular and high-quality supplementary nutrition under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), improving infrastructure at Anganwadi Centres to make them child and women-friendly, utilizing technology for real-time monitoring and beneficiary tracking, fostering active community involvement, and enhancing the capacity of Anganwadi workers for better service outcomes.

Thakur acknowledged the hard work of the officials and urged them to continuously update data on the Poshan Tracker, since these reports assist the Ministry in responding swiftly to ground-level needs.

She further remarked: “We are devoted to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat, and every initiative we undertake to empower women and children brings us closer to that objective.”
