Lucknow, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly commenced on Tuesday, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressing optimism that the Opposition would play a constructive role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the House rather than expressing their frustrations from recent electoral defeats.

The Chief Minister underscored the significance of the Governor's address and the budget, stating, “These are critical matters where not just the Opposition, but every member of the House can effectively voice their opinions.”

He assured that the government is thoroughly prepared to provide accurate responses to any concerns raised by the Opposition.

“The House serves as a platform for meaningful discussions, not a battleground for accusations and counter-accusations,” he noted.

CM Yogi expressed his hope that the Opposition's conduct would remain strong and dignified throughout the Assembly proceedings.

He pointed out that the session begins with the Governor's address and will include the approval of the UP government's budget for the year. “Moreover, significant issues concerning public interest and state development will also be deliberated upon,” he mentioned.

He stated that discussions on the Governor's address would start on Wednesday, and on February 20, the general budget for 2025-26 would be presented in the House.

The session is scheduled to run from February 18 to March 5, which CM Yogi remarked is a rare occurrence in the history of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly for a session to extend over such a long period.

He emphasized that both the ruling party and the Opposition share the responsibility of facilitating smooth proceedings.

The Chief Minister expressed the desire for the House to become a forum for discussions and commended the extraordinary standards established by the double-engine government of the BJP in the past eight years for the development of Uttar Pradesh.

“The current situation indicates a notable change in perception, with Uttar Pradesh regarded as a center of attraction on both national and international fronts,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister encouraged the Opposition to engage in constructive discussions rather than shying away from them, suggesting that this Budget Session could yield high productivity if the Opposition collaborates. “Honorable members will also have the opportunity to present their viewpoints,” he concluded.
