In an interview with IANS, Additional Superintendent of Police, Amethi, Gyanendra Kumar Singh, highlighted that thorough security measures have been established in collaboration with religious leaders representing various communities.
"Peace meetings have occurred at every police station in anticipation of Holi and Ramadan. Interactions have also been conducted with DJ operators. We aim to set up barricades at multiple sites," he mentioned.
He emphasized that all necessary actions have been taken to uphold communal harmony.
"We have meticulously planned to ensure a peaceful celebration. I urge all citizens through your platform to enjoy Holi joyfully and peacefully. Please refrain from offending anyone’s sentiments or engaging in conflicts. I also send my warm wishes to everyone on this occasion of Holi," the ASP conveyed to IANS.
Meanwhile, Agra's DCP City Syed Ali Abbas stated that the city has been segmented into six zones and 18 sectors for effective supervision.
“Every zone will be overseen by an ACP, while each sector will be managed by Inspectors along with the ACP. Peace committee gatherings have taken place at all police stations with religious leaders. Holika Dahan will be celebrated at 1,135 locations in Agra. All venues have been assessed, and no conflicts have been reported,” he added.
Chief of All India Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, has called upon individuals from all communities to honor each other's religious sentiments to foster peace and harmony during the festivities.
The Hindu community is scheduled to observe Holi on March 4, while Muslims are currently participating in Ramadan, a significant month dedicated to fasting and prayer.
Given the overlapping of these occasions, authorities nationwide have implemented extensive security measures to uphold law and order and avert any potential incidents.
In discussions with IANS, Maulana Rizvi remarked that the intersection of festivals necessitates mutual understanding and collaboration.
"As the festival of Holi approaches, and recalling that it coincided with the sacred month of Ramadan last year, it is essential to note that Muslims respect all religious celebrations. For the sake of peace, harmony, and communal unity, arrangements are made to accommodate festivals of any faith that coincide with Ramadan, Eid, Friday prayers, or Urs," he articulated.
He expressed optimism that improved coordination will be achieved this year.
"In the days to come, we anticipate better arrangements concerning the Holi festival. I urge all Hindu and Muslim community members to sustain peace and adhere to government directives," he concluded.
