New Delhi, April 21 (NationPress) US Vice President J.D. Vance along with his family visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday evening, prior to the Principals' and delegation-level bilateral discussions between the two leaders.
PM Modi extended a warm welcome to Vance, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their three children - Ewan, Vivek, and their daughter Mirabel - at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence.
This marks Vance's inaugural trip to India, and in addition to his discussions with PM Modi, the US Vice President and his delegation will engage in other activities in Jaipur and Agra before returning to Washington on April 24.
Reflecting their appreciation for Indian culture, Vance's children wore traditional Indian attire during their visit to the PM's residence.
Following their discussions, Prime Minister Modi will host the Vance family for dinner.
Earlier that day, the couple's children were seen disembarking from Air Force Two in Indian attire.
Ewan and Vivek were dressed in blue and yellow kurtas, while three-year-old Mirabel wore an Anarkali-style suit paired with an embroidered jacket.
Later, the US Vice President, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their children visited Swaminarayan Akshardham in Delhi, marking their first stop in India.
During their visit, the family admired the temple's stunning art, architecture, and enduring values of faith, family, and harmony.
This visit is historic as it is the first by an American Vice President to India in 13 years, the last being Joe Biden, who visited in 2013 during his tenure as Vice President under President Barack Obama.
Usha Vance's parents originally hail from Andhra Pradesh and migrated to the United States many years ago. Raised in the US, Usha boasts a remarkable educational background, having earned a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University and a master's degree in philosophy from Cambridge University.
