Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Agartala, Feb 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Wednesday that the VB-G RAM G Act was established with a primary emphasis on rural development and transparency, while also striving to reduce corruption.
During a state-level event celebrating the launch of VB-G RAM G at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, he inaugurated several initiatives from the Rural Development Department, alongside Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The Chief Minister remarked that after the introduction of the VB-G RAM G Act under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, opposition parties have tried to mislead the public with false information.
“This Act prioritizes rural development. In the past, schemes were often renamed, yet the opposition chose to remain quiet. Without village progress, neither the state nor the nation can advance. Prime Minister Modi has been consistently focused on this goal and promotes Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayaas,” stated Saha.
He continued by mentioning that the previous MGNREGA program had numerous flaws, such as middlemen involvement, which complicated workers' situations. “To shield workers from these issues, Prime Minister Modi introduced the VB-G RAM G Bill in 2025,” the Chief Minister explained.
Saha further pointed out that the opposition has struggled to grasp the meaning of VB-G RAM G, which translates to Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), and caused disturbances in Parliament despite the Bill being ratified and enacted.
“The primary aim of this Act is to address the flaws of MGNREGA. This transformation is crucial. It will provide a higher work guarantee and enhanced funding for rural development. The Act also emphasizes building durable infrastructure and ensuring accountability. Previously, workers were often misled regarding employment opportunities,” he added.
Emphasizing measures for transparency, the Chief Minister mentioned that digital tracking and reducing corruption are vital reasons for this Act's inception. “This legislation signifies a substantial change in India's approach to rural employment and development. Previously, guaranteed employment was 100 days; now it has been extended to 125 days,” Saha noted.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed the audience, declaring that ₹10 lakh crore would be allocated across rural India over the next five years under the VB-G RAM G. He emphasized that the scheme outlines a comprehensive strategy for constructing a Viksit Bharat.
Chouhan elaborated on the program's essential features, stating that the VB-G RAM G guarantees 125 days of employment, an increase from the previous 100 days. He mentioned that ₹1,51,282 crore has been designated for the rural initiative, with an additional ₹55,000 crore to be provided via the Finance Commission, bringing the total allocation to over ₹2 lakh crore annually.
Among the attendees were MP and former CM Biplab Kumar Deb, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, ARDD and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman, Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, MLAs, Secretary Abhishek Singh, Zilla Sabhadhipati, and senior officials.
