Venkatesh and Family Face Legal Action Over Hotel Demolition

Hyderabad, Jan 12 (NationPress) The police in Hyderabad have initiated a criminal case against film star Venkatesh and his family in relation to the demolition of Deccan Kitchen Hotel located in Film Nagar.

Following instructions from a city court, the Film Nagar Police have filed charges under multiple sections.

The First Information Report (FIR) identifies producer Daggubati Suresh as the primary accused (A1), with his brother Daggubati Venkatesh listed as A2, Suresh's son and actor Daggubati Rana as A3, and Rana's sibling and producer Daggubati Abhiram as A4.

The allegations are based on violations under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 448, 452, 458, and 120B, concerning trespass and criminal conspiracy.

On Saturday, the Nampally court instructed the police to take action following a complaint by Nanda Kumar, who accused Venkatesh and his relatives of conducting an unlawful demolition.

The complainant claimed that the accused entered the premises and committed destruction, despite an existing injunction from the City Civil Court and directives from the Telangana High Court.

In November 2022, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had partially demolished the hotel and adjacent structures owned by Nanda Kumar, who is also implicated in the alleged poaching of TRS MLAs, on land leased from the Daggubati family.

Nanda Kumar approached the High Court, which mandated maintaining the status quo.

In January 2024, the Daggubati family proceeded to demolish the entire structure. Subsequently, Nanda Kumar filed a complaint with the Nampally Court for breaching court orders, claiming a financial loss of Rs 20 crore due to the demolition and vandalism. The court has mandated police to investigate the situation.

Proceedings are ongoing, and on Saturday, the court reiterated its instructions for the police to file a case against the accused.
