Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 24 (NationPress) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday issued a strong warning to all state government officials, urging them to distance themselves from corrupt practices.
His remarks came during the inauguration of ‘Revenue Day’ in the state capital, where he also recognized officials for their outstanding contributions.
Vijayan emphasized that Kerala should strive to become a ‘Zero Corruption State’, despite already being recognized as the least corrupt state in the nation.
He highlighted that only a tiny fraction of government officials engage in corruption and encouraged those aware of such activities to come forward and report them.
“The elimination of corruption is essential, and seeing the average citizen leave government offices with a smile after resolving their issues is the greatest achievement for government employees,” stated Vijayan.
“I urge all government staff to refrain from seeking personal benefits and to focus on the betterment of society. All files related to new initiatives should be processed without any intention of receiving kickbacks,” he added.
“It is crucial for government officials to ensure that citizens do not have to make excessive trips to offices, as this may lead to perceptions of ulterior motives,” Vijayan said.
This strong message from Vijayan arrives amidst criticisms from the Congress-led UDF and BJP, who have accused him and his administration of being the most corrupt in the state’s history.
Both opposition parties have already initiated several protests, and the current assembly session has witnessed significant tension between the treasury and the opposition, particularly concerning the approval of a brewery plant in Palakkad district, which the Congress has labeled a corrupt arrangement.
