Erode, Dec 13 (NationPress) The president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and renowned actor-politician Vijay is set to conduct a campaign in Erode on December 18, according to a statement from party Executive Committee Chief Coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan. The event has been scheduled to last for a mere two hours.

The campaign will take place near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza, with meticulous arrangements being made in strict adherence to the guidelines established by the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, the statement addressed concerns by clarifying that the chosen venue for the event is not under the ownership of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, responding to objections raised from various factions.

It was also noted that there are no limitations on holding the campaign on land affiliated with the Vijayapuri Amman Temple, with full compliance assured regarding legal and administrative standards.

The former minister mentioned in the statement that the identities of other political figures joining TVK in Erode will be revealed at a later time.

He reiterated that all individuals are welcome to join TVK, emphasizing that decisions concerning alliances will be made exclusively by party president Vijay. The senior leader expressed his satisfaction with his role within TVK.

Sengottaiyan highlighted his previous service with the AIADMK under leaders M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, conveying a similar sense of commitment and confidence in TVK under Vijay's guidance.

TVK was officially launched earlier this year, marking Vijay's significant entry into the political scene of Tamil Nadu. Since its inception, the party has broadened its organizational framework throughout the state, establishing itself as a viable, people-focused political alternative in anticipation of the 2026 Assembly elections.

The decision to restrict the duration of the Erode campaign arises from an increased emphasis on crowd safety, following a recent stampede at a TVK-related event. In response, the party leadership has implemented stricter safety measures and adjusted campaign timings to prevent overcrowding.

Sengottaiyan's transition to TVK is regarded as a noteworthy political shift, especially in western Tamil Nadu, where he holds considerable sway. His involvement is expected to bolster the party's organizational strength and administrative capabilities.
