Chennai, Dec 14 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu Police have approved a public meeting for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor Vijay in Erode district on December 18. This event signifies the revival of his political outreach after a brief pause prompted by a stampede incident in Karur earlier this year.

As per official notes, the gathering is set to take place at a predetermined location near the Vijayamangalam toll gate in Perundurai taluk, adjacent to the Vijayapuri Amman Temple. The site was chosen after discussions with local authorities to accommodate crowd flow and traffic management.

TVK members had formally requested police consent to hold the rally at the suggested site. Following a review of their logistical setup, crowd management strategy, and security precautions, the Erode district police granted the necessary approval.

Police officials indicated that the go-ahead was given after the organizers paid Rs 50,000 for venue rental and deposited an additional Rs 50,000 as a refundable security amount, complying with existing regulations. The Erode Superintendent of Police Sujatha sanctioned the meeting, emphasizing adherence to conditions related to crowd control, traffic management, emergency accessibility, and overall public safety.

This Erode gathering holds special importance, particularly following the stampede at a previous TVK event in Karur that resulted in multiple injuries. In the aftermath of that incident, Vijay had announced a temporary halt to his public meetings, asserting that ensuring public safety would be paramount in all forthcoming political activities.

Following this, the party conducted a comprehensive review of its organizational readiness, volunteer coordination, and collaboration with district administrations before opting to renew its public campaign efforts. Party representatives noted that updated protocols were established to prevent similar occurrences.

Vijay officially unveiled Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in February 2024, declaring his full engagement in electoral politics with the vision of offering an alternative political landscape for Tamil Nadu. Framing TVK as a party dedicated to social justice, effective governance, and transparency, Vijay has reiterated the party's commitment to contesting the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Since its inception, TVK has concentrated on enhancing its organizational framework across districts, recruiting members, and mobilizing supporters through various meetings and outreach initiatives.

After recent public addresses in Kancheepuram and Puducherry, Vijay announced that Erode would be the next stop in his revitalized campaign tour. Party insiders mentioned that the Erode meeting would clarify the party’s ideological principles, its vision for Tamil Nadu, and the lessons learned from past events to ensure orderly and safe public engagement.

Now that police authorization is secured, security arrangements for the event are being coordinated collaboratively by the district authorities and party volunteers. Officials have stated that strict adherence to safety protocols will be mandatory, considering the anticipated large turnout for the TVK chief’s address.
