What Security Measures Are in Place for Vijay’s Event in Erode?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Erode, Dec 17 (NationPress) Comprehensive security measures have been established ahead of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay's arrival in Erode, Tamil Nadu, scheduled for Thursday. These measures, spearheaded by local police and enhanced by the event's organisers, aim to ensure a safe environment for attendees.
According to a statement from TVK chief coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan, all security protocols recommended by the police are being adhered to stringently.
The senior party figure, a former minister in Tamil Nadu, noted that the security provisions exceed the police's requests, indicating a commitment to exemplary safety standards at public gatherings in the state.
To execute the security plan, approximately 1,500 police officers will be deployed at the event location and surrounding areas to maintain order and facilitate the event's smooth operation. There will be 14 designated entry and exit points to control the flow of attendees and party members.
In terms of surveillance, 60 CCTV cameras will be strategically placed throughout the venue. In addition, an extensive medical setup is in place, featuring 72 doctors, 120 nurses, and 24 ambulances ready to address any emergencies.
The public gathering is anticipated to attract about 25,000 attendees, including roughly 10,000 party members. The organisers clarified that no entry restrictions will be enforced, such as passes, ID cards, or QR codes. Only individuals from the Erode district and party members have been invited to participate. Basic facilities, including drinking water and sanitation, will be available at the site.
For traffic management, parking arrangements covering around 60 acres have been established.
Sengottaiyan, alongside other party officials like Bussy N. Anand, has reviewed the preparations at the venue to ensure everything is ready.
As a precautionary measure, a nearby private school has declared a holiday for students on Thursday due to the expected security measures and traffic disruptions.
The TVK leaders emphasized that these extensive preparations underscore the significance of Vijay's visit to Erode, particularly following the tragic events of the Karur stampede on September 27, which resulted in the deaths of 41 individuals and injuries to many.
