New Delhi, Sep 25 (NationPress) Vivek Gupta of Sanmarg has been elected as the President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for the term 2025-26 during the society's recent Annual General Meeting. This positions him as the first leader from eastern India to take on this role in over three decades.
Gupta, who is also the Chairman and Managing Director of the Sanmarg Group, takes over from M.V. Shreyams Kumar of Mathrubhumi. In Kumar's farewell address, he praised the unyielding spirit of the Indian newspaper sector amid global challenges, especially in smaller cities.
Having previously held positions as INS Vice President in 2024-25 and Honorary Treasurer, Gupta's election signifies a pivotal moment in the evolution of the media landscape, demonstrating the rising influence of eastern India in the national media scene.
The newly formed leadership team consists of Karan Rajendra Darda from Lokmat as Deputy President, Tanmay Maheshwari from Amar Ujala as Vice President, and Anant Nath from Grihshobhika as Honorary Treasurer, with Mary Paul continuing as Secretary General.
