West Bengal CM to Make Official Visit to Sandeshkhali on December 30

Kolkata, Dec 26 (NationPress) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed on Thursday her plans to travel to Sandeshkhali on December 30 in the North 24 Parganas district. This area previously came into the national spotlight before the general elections earlier this year due to serious allegations of sexual harassment against local women and land grabbing by local Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan.
During a press briefing at the conclusion of the last Cabinet meeting of the year at the State Secretariat, Nabanna, the Chief Minister shared details about her forthcoming visit.
"I will be attending an official program on December 30. During this event, I will distribute public service documents to 100 beneficiaries. Additionally, 20,000 individuals will receive similar documents from various camps set up on that day," Banerjee stated.
Concerns have been raised by various factions, including opposition parties, regarding the Chief Minister's prior reluctance to visit Sandeshkhali given the violent incidents earlier this year, which stemmed from protests by local women against sexual harassment and land encroachment.
Political analysts believe that Banerjee's trip to Sandeshkhali on December 30 holds significant weight, as she may make important announcements during her visit.
Following the Cabinet meeting, Banerjee also mentioned that on January 1, the Trinamool Congress will host blood donation camps across the state in honor of the party's Foundation Day.
"On January 2, an extensive administrative review meeting will be held at Nabanna. I will travel to Sagar Islands in the South 24 Parganas district on January 6 for the Gangasagar Mela," the Chief Minister added.
CM Banerjee stated: "An administrative meeting is scheduled for January 2 in Nabanna hall. We will review all departmental activities. My visit to Gangesagar will take place on January 6. First, I will stop by the Bharat Seva Ashram Sangh. The Maharaj of Kapilmuni Ashram is quite elderly, and I wish to avoid causing him any disturbance. He has recently inaugurated a fourth temple. I will visit the Bharat Seva Ashram first, followed by Kapilmuni Ashram.
