MP CM Mohan Yadav's surprise inspection at Ujjain wheat centre flags farmer concerns
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday, 6 May conducted an unannounced inspection of a wheat procurement centre in Ujjain, warning officials that negligence in the procurement process would not be tolerated. The visit signals heightened political attention to the state's ongoing rabi procurement season.
What the CM Inspected
Yadav visited the Agro Steel Silo centre at Manpura village, under the Datana and Surjanwasa Service Cooperative Societies. He reviewed weighing systems, storage facilities, payment procedures, and basic amenities provided to farmers. In a hands-on gesture, the Chief Minister climbed onto a tractor-trolley to personally check the quality of wheat brought by farmers.
Farmer Grievances Raised on the Spot
During direct interactions with farmers at the centre, Yadav heard complaints related to weighing irregularities, shortage of gunny bags, transportation bottlenecks, and delayed payments. He directed officials to resolve these concerns promptly and ensure a smooth procurement experience. Altaf Patel, a farmer from Datana Matana village, told the Chief Minister that he had received timely payments and that prevailing prices were favourable, adding that government initiatives had helped improve farmer incomes.
