Why is Congress Quiet Regarding Claims of Soros-Linked Funding? Anurag Thakur Challenges Opposition's Motives

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Senior BJP figure Anurag Thakur has launched a serious critique against the Congress and other opposition factions within the INDIA Bloc, accusing them of having ties with foreign entities purportedly aiming to destabilize the nation. Thakur specifically questioned the Congress’ silence regarding allegations of foreign funding associated with billionaire investor George Soros.
In an interview with IANS, Thakur stated, “Why is the Congress silent on allegations of connections with foreign funding? What ties do these political entities have with George Soros? Certain forces are trying to undermine India’s democracy, and it is crucial to inquire why these parties are linked to Soros.”
The minister claimed that the Congress and its allies have not represented the voice of India’s 140 crore citizens in Parliament. “Whose agenda are they advancing? Their actions have revealed their true nature to the public, and the Congress will need to confront the repercussions,” he remarked to IANS.
Thakur also condemned the opposition for their demonstrations in Parliament, which included a mock interview of Congress MPs donning Modi masks. “The Congress has resorted to such disreputable tactics. This is a clear sign of their frustration, and their numbers are decreasing with each passing day,” he added.
These comments from the minister arise amid rising political friction between the ruling BJP and the INDIA Bloc concerning the alleged ties to George Soros-funded organizations.
Earlier on Monday, the BJP specifically targeted Congress, particularly Sonia Gandhi, over her supposed association with an organization financed by George Soros, which has allegedly supported anti-India narratives, including the push for Kashmir's independence.
During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, party spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi expressed grave concerns about what he termed “well-orchestrated anti-India campaigns” emerging during significant political moments.
“The Opposition's tendency to disrupt the smooth functioning of the House persists. However, alongside this, some very serious, troubling, and significant matters regarding the nation's security and stability are being highlighted in both national and international media,” he remarked.
Trivedi cited instances, stating that on February 3, 2021, a report concerning Indian farmers was published during the Budget Session of January 2021; on July 18, 2021, the Pegasus report emerged during the Monsoon Session of Parliament; on January 24, 2023, the Hindenburg report was released just before the Budget Session, set to commence on January 31; on January 17, 2023, the BBC documentary 'India: The Modi Question' was launched on July 19, 2023, and a video regarding Manipur violence appeared a day before the Monsoon Session.
