Lucknow, May 31 (NationPress) The spouse of Assistant Commissioner Yogendra Mishra, who has been accused in an assault case involving fellow Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Gaurav Garg, has stepped forward to assert her husband’s innocence, stating he is being unjustly accused of serious charges.

The alleged confrontation occurred on Wednesday at the Income Tax office in Lucknow, where a heated dispute reportedly erupted between IRS officer Gaurav Garg and Assistant Commissioner Yogendra Mishra.

Garg suffered injuries during the altercation, which is said to be connected to a confidential departmental inquiry.

In an interview with IANS, Mishra's wife, Neha Dwivedi, remarked: “I have once again lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police (CP), initially filed by my husband on the morning of May 30. I firmly believe that justice will prevail and that my husband is completely innocent and not involved in the incident at all.”

She argued that the situation is being misrepresented, leading to serious legal implications for her husband.

Mishra's wife called for public awareness regarding the issue, saying, “My sole request is for people to recognize what we are enduring.”

Neha mentioned that her husband assured her nothing inappropriate transpired at the office and that there is surveillance footage that supports his claims.

“CCTV cameras are installed in the office, and two other officers were present during the incident. They can verify what transpired. The footage will clearly illustrate that no vandalism or violence occurred as alleged. Yogendra did not hit anyone. The aggression came from the other side,” she informed IANS.

Regarding the delay in filing her complaint, Neha explained: “We attempted to report the incident earlier. Yogendra filed his complaint on the morning of May 30. I also submitted mine later that afternoon, sending it via speed post and emailing it from my account. When my father-in-law tried to submit it in person that evening, he was unable to do so. I personally delivered it to the CP today. It now appears that further legal action will be pursued, and our side will be acknowledged.”

Expressing optimism after meeting the Commissioner of Police, she remarked, “Until now, it felt like no one was listening to us. However, after meeting the CP, I believe we will receive a fair consideration. I just ask that the truth be acknowledged.”

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the confrontation arose from a disagreement over an RTI (Right to Information) matter. The official complaint was lodged by Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Garg, who is also married to IPS officer Raveena Tyagi.

Notably, Yogendra Mishra, a 2014-batch IRS officer, has previously been embroiled in controversies. He is reportedly facing eight to ten departmental investigations, including allegations of misconduct, intimidating colleagues, and extortion using fabricated chat evidence.
