These initiatives encompass programs like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana, Mission Shakti, and Lakhpati Didi, he noted.
Governor Bhalla pointed out that the state government has embraced the Central government’s Childcare Leave policy, offering eligible women employees, as well as single male employees, up to 730 days of paid leave throughout their service.
He remarked that the formation of the Manipur State Commission for Women in 2006 marked a pivotal move in ensuring that women are granted dignity, security, and opportunities.
Over the years, the Commission has diligently worked to promote awareness, conduct consultations, address grievances, and elevate issues concerning violations of women's rights to the relevant authorities.
Referencing the historic 'Ima Keithel' (all-women market), he praised the legacy of Manipuri women as economic leaders, stating that the recent inauguration of four new Ima Keithels by the Prime Minister would further enhance this legacy by opening new pathways for women's economic participation.
'Ima Keithel', also referred to as 'Ima Markets' and 'Nupi Keithel', are distinctive as they are exclusively operated by women of varying ages in Imphal and other regions of Manipur.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated four 'Ima Markets' at different locations including Tengnoupal, Noney, Pallel, and Moirang.
The construction of these markets was accomplished at a cost of Rs 24 crore.
During his visits to Churachandpur's peace ground and the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal, PM Modi unveiled a total of 31 development projects valued at Rs 8,500 crore.
In his address at Monday's event, the Governor urged the people of Manipur to reaffirm their commitment to creating a safe and empowering environment for women in every town, village, and workplace.
He called for collective action to build a Manipur where opportunities are not constrained by gender, allowing every citizen to dream, aspire, and achieve.
Governor Bhalla also visited the stalls set up by members of women's self-help groups, commending their products and entrepreneurial spirit.
He later launched a bilingual journal titled 'Vision for Women, Volume-VI' and praised the Commission's 19 years of unwavering service in safeguarding women's rights and promoting their empowerment across the state.
