New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) To elevate India to a developed nation by 2047, the momentum must be driven by women and girls, who now have an enhanced role in policymaking thanks to one-third reservation in legislative bodies, stated Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday.
Addressing the Foundation Day of the National Commission for Women, VP Dhankhar emphasized the critical role of women in spearheading the journey towards Viksit Bharat by 2047.
"They must operate at full capacity to achieve the vision we have laid out. This is not merely a dream; it has transformed into an objective. No other nation has progressed so rapidly in the last decade as Bharat has. Consequently, Bharat stands as the most aspirational nation globally, and with aspiration, the heart longs for more!" he remarked.
"In every sector I observe, my experience indicates that women consistently outperform men. In Parliament, you would be surprised to find that over 50 percent of the members are women. I have initiated this process," he mentioned.
Regarding the selection of vice chairpersons, he noted that at least 50 percent must be women. When the Women's Reservation Bill was approved in the Rajya Sabha, he explained that 17 women occupied his chair.
Discussing women's empowerment, VP Dhankhar remarked, “While education is a powerful tool for empowerment, it holds even greater significance for women as they learn swiftly, acquire skills quickly, and adapt easily to what they learn, which is widely accessible.”
“In the realm of sports, our girls have achieved remarkable success, particularly in wrestling and Kushti. I maintain a positive outlook for Bharat, I am optimistic about Bharat, and I have confidence in Bharat because I believe in your gender,” he concluded.
