Jamnagar, April 14 (NationPress) As the three-day special session of Parliament approaches on April 16, the Gujarat chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced on Tuesday that the discussions will symbolize the nation’s solidarity regarding women’s empowerment, emphasizing the importance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
During a press briefing in Jamnagar, BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma stated, “The Parliament's special session starting April 16 will showcase our nation’s commitment to women empowerment and serve as a crucial step toward a more balanced and inclusive democracy in India.”
He referred to the legislation, which was approved by both Houses of Parliament in 2023, as “a remarkable and historic milestone in the evolution of India’s democracy.”
Vishwakarma noted, “The Nari Shakti Vandan Act ensures 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state Legislative Assemblies. This is not simply a numerical quota; it lays a robust foundation for women’s direct and proactive involvement in policy-making.”
He commenced his address by honoring Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, asserting that India’s dedication to women’s empowerment is deeply embedded in both constitutional principles and cultural heritage.
“In our society, women have always been esteemed, and their empowerment is vital for national advancement,” he remarked.
Stressing the significance of women in developmental processes, he remarked, “The comprehensive development of our nation can only occur when half of its populace—women—actively participate in leadership roles.”
He referenced recent policy initiatives, stating, “Measures like the abolition of triple talaq and the integration of women into permanent roles within the armed forces have fortified women’s standing in society.”
Vishwakarma emphasized that the government’s vision for development, including ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, acknowledges women as a fundamental pillar of progress.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has categorized the poor, youth, farmers, and women as the four pillars of development, making women’s involvement in leadership crucial for realizing this vision,” he asserted.
Highlighting women’s accomplishments, he commented, “Today, India’s daughters are demonstrating their talents across various domains, from space exploration to sports, and from the armed forces to innovative startups.”
He noted that initiatives such as ‘Drone Didi’, ‘Lakhpati Didi’, and ‘Ujjwala’ have fostered financial independence and enhanced living conditions for women.
Regarding Gujarat, he stated, “Gujarat has consistently led in implementing women-centric policies and promoting women empowerment,” acknowledging women’s contributions in fields like animal husbandry and dairy.
He concluded, “Through ‘Sakhi Mandals’ and the ‘Mudra Yojana’, countless women are achieving self-sufficiency as micro-entrepreneurs, while projects like the ‘Abhayam 181’ helpline have bolstered women’s safety.”
