Jaipur, April 15 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on Wednesday that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing women's involvement in politics, by guaranteeing 33 percent reservation for women in both Parliament and state legislative assemblies.

While addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan Conference at the Birla Auditorium, CM Sharma remarked that this legislation, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, will enable women to play a vital role in governance, policymaking, education, and national security.

He underlined that increased political representation would propel the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) forward.

The Chief Minister encouraged women to demonstrate their support for the Act by giving a missed call to a designated number.

Sharma emphasized the crucial role women play in nation-building, stating that India’s cultural heritage has always valued women’s empowerment. “Women are not just managing homes; they are also thriving in various fields including startups, education, sports, science, and law enforcement,” he commented.

He acknowledged the Centre’s efforts in launching several initiatives focused on women's upliftment, such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and the Swachh Bharat Mission, which have collectively improved women's financial inclusion, dignity, and overall quality of life. Sharma reiterated the state government's commitment to ensuring women's safety and dignity.

He pointed out that over 20 lakh women have received training under various programs, resulting in the emergence of more than 16 lakh “Lakhpati Didis”.

Initiatives like the Lado Protsahan Yojana have positively impacted over 6.5 lakh girls, while financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana has been increased to Rs 6,500.

Additionally, the deployment of 600 Kalika Patrolling Units and 65 Anti-Romeo Squads has been initiated to bolster women's safety, along with support measures such as LPG subsidies and complimentary travel benefits during special occasions.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari remarked that women’s empowerment is pivotal to both state and central government policies.

She characterized the reservation law as a “historic reform” that will guarantee women’s perspectives are integrated into decision-making processes and governance.

The event was attended by ministers, MPs, officials, and a significant number of women and students, marking a substantial stride towards inclusive democracy. The Chief Minister also signed a ‘Signature Wall’ in support of the Act, with attendees participating in various activities to commemorate the occasion.
