Shimla, April 15 (NationPress) A significant assembly of women, youth, scholars, and community advocates gathered on Wednesday to endorse the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The event, led by Mahila Morcha President Daisy Thakur, started with the ‘Town Hall of Women’ where vital conversations took place on pressing topics such as women’s rights, education, safety, leadership, and the importance of 33 percent political reservation for women.
While addressing the crowd, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur noted that as “the role of women in India continues to strengthen, it is crucial now to guarantee their equal involvement in the policy-making and decision-making spheres.”
He referred to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a landmark initiative that will propel the country’s overall advancement. He emphasized that the long-held dreams of countless women nationwide are on the verge of realization, with an evident wave of enthusiasm among them.
Expressing appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur remarked that this Act “is part of a broader vision focused on empowering women at every life stage, encompassing birth, education, safety, self-reliance, and leadership.”
“This represents a promise made by Prime Minister Modi being realized,” he added.
Mahila Morcha President Daisy Thakur shared that the event signifies the initiation of a larger movement for women’s rights, dignity, and involvement.
“This is not simply an event; it marks the dawn of a people's movement for women’s empowerment. The respect for women is the hallmark of a new India, which is not merely a slogan but a firm commitment,” she stated.
Speaker Poornima Chauhan pointed out the notable increase in women’s engagement in education, administration, and leadership roles.
She observed that societal views towards girls are positively changing, as shown by improved gender ratios and a rise in women's enrollment in higher education.
“The enforcement of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will further boost this advancement,” she asserted.
Prof Minakshi Paul stressed that education is the most robust foundation for women’s empowerment, highlighting the ongoing increase in female participation at secondary and higher educational levels, advocating for equal opportunities for every girl.
