Dharamsala, April 16 (NationPress) Rajeev Bindal, the President of the Himachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), declared on Thursday that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marks a pivotal advancement in fortifying Indian democracy.
While addressing attendees, Bindal emphasized, "The perspective on women's empowerment in India has witnessed a profound evolution. It has transitioned from mere welfare to actively empowering society and the nation through women."
He asserted that the enactment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will markedly boost women's involvement in both Parliament and state Assemblies, fostering balance, sensitivity, and inclusivity in policy formulation.
In his remarks, Bindal pointed out the achievements of the Central government and noted that a holistic lifecycle approach has been embraced to empower women at every phase of life.
He highlighted that over 4.27 crore women have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, with a total of Rs 20,101 crore directly allocated to beneficiaries.
"Under POSHAN 2.0, about 14 lakh Anganwadi centers are catering to nearly nine crore beneficiaries daily, while the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiative has significantly improved the sex ratio at birth," he added.
Bindal also noted that 926 One Stop Centres under 'Mission Shakti' are delivering integrated legal, medical, and psychological aid to women, and the '181' Women Helpline has supported nearly 99 lakh women nationwide.
Regarding economic empowerment, he emphasized that women have received approximately 68 percent of loans through the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, with over Rs 14.72 lakh crore disbursed to bolster women entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, he reported that 10 crore women have formed connections through Self-Help Groups, and over three crore have become 'Lakhpati Didis', establishing new standards in self-reliance.
Addressing advancements in healthcare, Bindal noted that the maternal mortality ratio has decreased from 130 in 2014 to 88 in 2023, while there has been a notable decline in child mortality rates due to 'Mission Indradhanush'.
On the education front, he remarked that girls' enrollment at the secondary level has seen a significant rise, along with an increase in women's participation in higher education and research.
